Information Disorder and Resilience in the Global South
ARIJ’s Arab Fact-Checkers Network (AFCN) led the MENA component of a three-year international research project on information disorder in the Global South from 2023 to 2025, alongside research teams from Africa (Research ICT Africa), South-East Asia (LIRNEasia) and Latin America (InternetLab). The project was led by the Centre for Information Integrity in Africa (CINIA), under Principal Investigator Prof. Herman Wasserman, with support from Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
The final report, edited by Dr. Meli Ncube, is now available for download. Drawing on locally grounded research across the Global South, the report examines the structural drivers of information disorder and explores responses related to governance and platform regulation, media and information literacy, and fact-checking practices.
