ARIJ’s AFCN Celebrates IFCD 2025 with an Impactful Campaign
The Arab Fact-Checkers Network (AFCN) from ARIJ, highlighted the International Fact-Checking Day on April 2nd with a three-day campaign highlighting the network’s impact on combating misinformation in the Arab world. The campaign, “AFCN Impact: A Community Driving Change,” ran from April 1st to 3rd under the hashtag #دقق_بالعربي, showcasing AFCN’s achievements and the work of its community of 36 organizations and over 300 fact-checkers.

Localized AI Tools: AFCN showcased the localization of Full Fact AI tools into Arabic, making it available to fact checking organizations like Tafnied and TuniFact for monitoring, claim detection, and video transcription. These tools significantly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of fact-checking efforts in the Arab world.

Fact-Checking Workshops: Registration opened for two workshops on the fundamentals of fact-checking, open to all interested individuals across the Arab world.
Grant for Fact-Checking Organizations: AFCN announced a grant to support fact-checking organizations as part of the “Sa7” project.
Live Broadcast: Three fact-checkers shared their experiences and discussed opportunities and challenges in the field during an Instagram live broadcast on April 2nd.
The campaign saw widespread engagement from fact-checkers, journalists, and media organizations collaborating with AFCN. Participants shared achievements, educational posts, and visual content to raise public awareness about fact-checking and its impact under the hashtag #دقق_بالعربي on various social media platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook).
It is worth noting that this is the fourth consecutive campaign by ARIJ’s AFCN demonstrating the network’s significant impact in combating information disorder across the Arab region through its initiatives and the collaborative efforts of its community.
