AFCN organized its first training with Google News Initiative

The Arab Fact-Checkers Network (AFCN) led by ARIJ, conducted the first training with Google News Initiative (GNI) on 25th April 2022 with almost 50 participants, under the title “Advanced Research and Google Tools”.

The journalist and trainer Pamela Kesrouani, GNI’s fellow teacher for the MENA region, trained at the session that was moderated by Saja Mortada, AFCN manager. 

The session included practical examples of the best practices of Google search and the research features can be used to reach different resources. In addition to highlighting some of the useful Google tools like Pinpoint. 

During the session, Kesrouani responded to the participants’ questions which revolved around the content featured on Google and the possibilities that Google search engine has. 

It is worth mentioning that the collaboration between AFCN and GNI is continuous to provide the AFCN community with capacity building opportunities through empowering them with the main tools that support their fact-checking work. Hence there will be a series of sessions throughout 2022.
