AFCN on International Fact-Checking Day 2024
The Arab Fact-Checkers Network(AFCN) from ARIJ, participated actively in the International Fact-Checking Day on various social media platforms under the hashtag “#دقق_بالعربي” from April 1 to 3, 2024.
The campaign is part of AFCN’s strategic objectives to increase awareness about fact-checking and to emphasise its importance. This year, AFCN highlighted the collaboration between fact-checkers and fact-checking organisations on both regional and international level, advocating for cross-border collaboration under the theme “Fact-checking and Collaboration: Stronger together”.
The content of the campaign was diverse, and variated between videos, images and resources, and was depicting the collaboration took place between fact-checkers during AFCN projects activities, namely AFCN channel on Slack, “Dalil” fact-checking Diploma, “Go Far Go Together” project and AFCN Chatbot.

AFCN also seized this occasion to announce its annual award of the best cross-border fact-checking project in 2024, which is the first of its kind in the Arab world. In addition to opening calls for applications in-person workshop in Jordan, under the title “Media literacy and fact-checking basics”, in cooperation with Al-Fanar Media.
On April 2, and as part of its campaign, AFCN announced through a live webinar the launch of Full Fact AI tools in Arabic language, in partnership with Full Fact and the support of Google News Initiative.
During the campaign, fact-checkers and journalists from several Arab countries interacted and shared their thoughts on various social media platforms using the hashtag “#دقق_بالعربي”, that reached 2,142,770 and got 4,736,580 impressions on X.
It is worth mentioning that this campaign is the third in a row organized by ARIJ’s AFCN, which was distinguished this year by contributions from international fact-checking organizations, emphasizing on the importance of cross-border collaboration and joining efforts to confront information disorder globally.
