Dalil 2nd webinar: Art of interviewing for fact-checkers and journalists
The “Arab Fact-Checkers Network” (AFCN) led by ARIJ, organised on July 3, its second webinar under the Dalil project supported by the EU and in partnership with “Siren” and “Josa”, entitled “The art of interviewing for fact-checkers and journalists”, with the participation of more than 120 attendees via Zoom and +1000 Views via Facebook Live from different Arab countries.
In this webinar, the Director General of ARIJ and the media consultant in television and digital production and training “Rawan Damen“, discussed the most important tips that fact-checkers and journalists should take into account for conducting professional and successful interviews to obtain the desired information, as the types of interviews, the most important preparations that are significant to prepare before and during the interview, and how to better document the interviews of various kinds.
In a two-hour interactive session, moderated by the journalist and coach at ARIJ, Farah Jallad, the participants interacted by responding to the trainer’s questions about best practices with the source by presenting cases and responding to the optimal reaction by fact-checkers and journalists. In response to the attendees’ questions, Al Damen emphasised that we should fact-check all information we get from sources and not take the sources’ speech as facts.
This webinar is a part of a series of webinars conducted by AFCN under ‘Dalil’ project, the first webinar in the series was held on June 12 under the title “Fact-checking and Geolocation – Using maps to verify videos & photos”.
It’s worth mentioning that “Dalil” is one of AFCN projects led by ARIJ, and aims to enhance fact-checking and access to accurate information in seven countries in the MENA region (Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, Morocco, Tunisia & Yemen).
